‘Short Scene’ is an intensive 6-month workshop to learn about the theory and practice of screenwriting, develop one’s idea, and write a screenplay for a short film. Now in its ninth edition, this is the second time the workshop is organised by the Directors’ Guild of Slovenia in collaboration with the Slovenian Film Centre and in partnership with the Society for short film promotion KRAKEN. That’s How the Summer Ended (Matjaž Ivanišin, Slovenia, Hungary, Italy, 2022, 12′)

A man and a woman walk down to the water. A motorway crosses fields, a deserted suburban landscape stretches over the horizon. Another man joins them.
Matjaž Ivanišin graduated in film and TV directing from the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film, and Television (AGRFT) Ljubljana. His films Karpotrotter, Playing Men, and Oroslan have been screened at some of the leading international film festivals, such as Locarno, Rotterdam, FID Marseille, and Tribeca, and included in programmes of contemporary art museums, such as MoMA, Centre Pompidou, and ICA London. For his work, Ivanišin has received several awards including the Prešeren Fund Award. He is a visiting lecturer at AGRFT Ljubljana.
Borbike (Nika Jurman, Slovenia, 2022, 15′)

An ambitious but somewhat lazy photographer tries to survive in a big and expensive city. Hanging out at a posh party which she attends to make some extra money and possibly shine, she decides to radically change her life. Can she make it without killing anyone in the process?
Nika Jurman is a screenwriter and director with an MA in Philosophy and Comparative Literature, and a BA in French Language. Her debut animated short film Borbike won the Vesna Award for Best Animation at the Festival of Slovenian Film Portorož, and the Grand Prix at the Festival of Independent Film, Ljubljana.
