There will be film screenings at no less than six venues, masterclasses, workshops and a night of making friends to the thumping music. Friday's prelude to the festival weekend is already upon us in Izola, full of bustling spectators, guests, volunteers and other friends of Kino Otok. Among the film directors we will meet and talk with Laura Samani, Bill Morrison, Emilija Gašić, Neil Young and Ivan Ramljak. Most of them are returning to this year's festival with their latest films, as one of the important constants of the festival is the intertwining of bonds of friendship between filmmakers, who then return as cinema-going friends. On the second day of the festival, both adult spectators and the youngest ones with their families are already meeting in Izola. All the main festival venues are alive - the Art Cinema Odeon, the Cultural Centre and the Manzioli Palace during the day, the Arrigoni Open-Air Cinema, Video on the Beach and Lighthouse in the evening under the stars. As a warm-up before the June festival week in Isola, the international film festival Kino Otok - Isola Cinema continues its exploration and celebration of its 20th anniversary. Already on 10 May 2024, in cooperation with TAM-TAM, we are opening a retrospective exhibition of the festival's posters from 2004 to the present day at the Figovec Poster Gallery in Ljubljana. From 22 May, an exhibition of visual memories of twenty years of unforgettable expeditions to the most cinematic Island of our sea will be on show at the Kinodvor gallery in Ljubljana. From 5 to 9 June, we will invite visitors to the festival in Isola to the Cabinet of Wonders, an exhibition of cinematographic memorabilia and related mischief at the Kino Otok venues: the Cultural Centre, the Art Cinema Odeon and perhaps elsewhere. What about our common future?
