On the last day of Kino Otok, all generations of visitors meet again to catch the remaining film-filled experiences in Izola before the festival community bids farewell for another year. At the screenings we will talk to filmmakers and activists from neighbouring Trieste Guillermo Giampietro and Pavel Berdon, Croatian director Ivan Ramljak, Remigio Gri\u017eoni\u010d from Izola, and we will say goodbye to the festival with a dive into the music and images beyond the dream with Istrian music virtuoso Elvis \u0160ahbaz and filmmaker Davorin Marc from Izola.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Art Cinema Odeon in the atmosphere of the region, the last film masterpiece at the House of Culture<\/strong><\/p>\n

At 11am<\/strong>, let’s immerse ourselves in the pulse of Izola with two short films about the complicated life of Mirko Andrej\u010di\u010d – Mir\u010d, an Izola fisherman and unconditional lover of fishing and the sea. The documentary about Mir\u010d the fisherman<\/a><\/strong> (2023) was made by the Izola-based photographer and documentary filmmaker Remigio Gri\u017eoni\u010d<\/strong>, who will also join us for a post-screening discussion. At 13:00<\/strong>, guests Guillermo Giampietro<\/strong> and Pavel Berdon<\/strong> from neighbouring Trieste, activists and creators of the experimental film Listen to Me<\/a> <\/strong>(Escucame, 2022), born out of an activism dedicated to overcoming prejudices against what is usually interpreted as madness. At 3pm<\/strong>, we say goodbye to the Odeon with one last film, El Shatt – Blueprint for Utopia<\/a> <\/strong>(2023), by guest Ivan Ramljak<\/strong>, about how 28,000 Dalmatians, evacuated to Egypt after the surrender of Italy, lived a model of life in post-war Yugoslavia in the heart of the desert.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, at 12pm<\/strong>, the screening of Eureka<\/a><\/strong> (2023) by Lisandro Alonso takes place at the House of Culture, where we will travel on the wings of a bird through space and time and discover three stories that reflect on the future of a life haunted by the ghost of colonialism.<\/p>\n

A windy farewell to the Submarine<\/strong><\/p>\n

The epic dream adventure for the whole family, Sirocco and the Kingdom of the Winds<\/a><\/strong> (Sirocco et le royaume des courants d’air, Benoit Chieux, 2023), will take place at the House of Culture at 10am<\/strong>, followed by a workshop in collaboration with the Trieste Sailing Museum, Good Wind!<\/strong>, where we will make simple wind machines.<\/p>\n

To close the celebrations in Manzioli Square, we will travel beyond dreams<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the official farewell to the festival, we return to Manzioli Square, where at 9pm, guitar virtuoso Elvis \u0160ahbaz will take us through the music-film event Beyond Dreams<\/a><\/strong> accompanied by Davorin Marc’s visuals.<\/p>\n

Video on the beach and the Lighthouse<\/strong><\/p>\n

The screen under the stars will be lit up at 20.45 by Video on the Beach films grouped around the topic of Beyond Survival. After the screening, come to the Lighthouse to dance to the tunes of our surprise playlist.<\/p>\n
